HIGHLANDER: ENDGAME

In the days before memory, there were the Immortals.
We were with you then, and we are with you now.
We are driven by the endless fight to survive in a game of which knows no limit of time or place.
We are the seeds of legend, but our true origins are unknown.
We simply are.

NY. 10years ago
(a policecar siren, a subway exit reads W24th St)
Connor and Duncan come up the stairs, speaking French

Duncan: What's a hot dog?
Connor: No thanks.
D: Just ketchup, please. Thanks.
C: Listen, I've got an errand to run.
D: Kind of skimpy on the ketchup.
C: Duncan, I've got to do this alone.
D: What? Wait, wait. You called me in Paris and you said, "We have to meet."
Now, suddenly you've got an errand to run?
What's going on?
C: I don't know. It's nothing.
D: You okay?
C: Yeah, I'm okay. Really.
D: I know you better than that, Connor. Haven't seen you like this.
C: People change, Duncan. You'll learn that.
D: Fine. You can tell me all about it tonight 8:00, at the bar. And you are buying.
C: Right, 8:00; and I'm buying.
D: Mm-hum.
D: You sure you gonna be all right, Connor?
C: Of course....Duncan... watch your back.

(Rachel nears to the antique shop, opens the door with a key and enters.)

Rachel: Connor? Connor?
ov: TV speaks. Rachel walks down the stairs.
TV: ...thanks...like you...Rachel...great...watch...sure, okay...
(in the video)
Girl: What is it, Connor?
Connor: Open it.
G: Oh, a ballerina. Wow, she's beautiful. Thank you.
(Rachel smiles)
C: Mmm, my angel.
(the music box rings)
(another scene, reads "Congratulations class of 471" a young woman wearing a gown hugs Connor)
Connor: Oh, my God, I'm so proud of you.
Woman: I love you, Connor.
C: I love you, my Rachel. Oh, God, I'm so proud of you.

(telephone rings and so does a metronome. Rachel takes the receiver. Outside the shop there stands Kell)
R: Hello?
(A bomb's timer clicks, then it explodes)
C: Rachel!

(monologue)
C: Rachel, my beloved Rachel...

The Sanctuary Recent Day
(Connor lying on a metal frame attached to some device with a metal mask on his face)
Connor: How long has it been since she died? A year? A century? More?
My mind keeps slipping but some things I know.
I am Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod and once, a very long time ago,
I was a Heighlander.
(Scenery of Scotland passes by)
C: Born of this land and like this land, immortal.

Glencoe, Scotland, 1555
(Connor and Heather stand in front of their hut)
Voice: You damned us all, Connor MacLeod! You sold your soul!
Man: You are a witch, You child of Satan!
Heather: They drove you from your home, cut you of from you people.
What else do they want?
Connor: Someone to blame.
M: Your mother will burn!
H: Connor!
M: You mother will burn! Rot in hell!
C: (to Heather) Get in the house.
(to the men) Get off my land! Leave us in peace!
Get off my land!

(Connor is on a horse, with a sword inscribed "MacLeod" )
H: Connor, please. You're not going back to Glenfinnan.
C: I have no choice.
H: Connor, please.
C: They can't hurt me, and they know it, but they can still hurt the ones I love.
H: I'm afraid.
C: I love you, Heather more than anything in this world.
Do you believe me?
H: Yes,
C: Then don't be afraid. Nothing can keep me from you. Nothing.
(Connor kisses Heather and leaves)

(Connor's mother is sick and lies on a bed)
Mother: Connor, I thought you might be the water horse come to take me on his back and drown me in the loch.
Connor: No one comes to take care of you?
M: Not in years.
They think I bedevil their children because my own was banished.
C: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
M: Tiny mite and soured dispositions.
I've no need of them, Connor, any of them.
C: Then it's settled. You're coming with me.
(holding his mother, Connor got close to the door and wind blows)
C: Aah!
M: Connor! Connor, what is it?
C: I'm not sure. It happened once before.

(the door falls inside, the priest, villagers come in)
C: Aah!
M: Aah! Connor!
Priest: In the name of the Holy See and the rule of law, you are hereby charged, Connor MacLeod!
(Connor recognizes his friend Jacob Kell)
C: Jacob?
P: with heresy and the practice of black magic...
C: We are friends, remember Jacob? I stood at your ordination. I vouched for you.
Jacob: You shouldn't have come back, Connor.
P: Take him.
(Connor, tied with a rope on the neck )

Priest speaking indistinctly
(Connor comes to the grid in a jail, sees someone whose heels of shoes bear three crosses)
P: (to Connor's mother) The ties of blood cannot be severed by word or deed.
C: (gasps) Mother!
J: Due to the infinite compassion you are entitled to one final opportunity to renounce all that is unholy,
and declare Connor MacLeod not of your loins.
How say you, Caiolin MacLeod?
M: If your God should persecute me into the next world, then I shall simply have to find myself another.
(crowd mutter)
Crowd: Burn her!
C: No! No! No!
J: He is your son. I am silent for you.
(Jacob pulls her rosary off, Connor groans, Jacob puts a small bag on her neck)
J: Black powder. It will ease your suffering.
(firewood catches fire and burns)
C: Mother! No!
(Caiolin weeps and screams, Connor twists off one of the bars)
Men: You're next, you demon!
(Connor attacks a man with a iron bar and takes his sword, defeats three men and runs out to his mother)
M: My water horse...
(black powder catches fire and explodes, the cross falls down)
Man: The Devil's come back to life!
(to Connor from behind)
P: Let her be, Connor
(Connor stabs him)
J: Father! ...Please, don't leave me, Father...
(Jacob picks up a sword and attacks Connor, but is stabbed by Connor)
J: Connor...
(Connor holds his mother and walk off)

The Sanctuary
C: My endless days are filled with memories of the past and the death of my mother by Jacob Kell.

(a man wearing monk's robe comes to the Sanctuary, after him motor bikes approach)
Man: Boy, you people are extremely difficult to find.
Watcher: We like it that way.
(Watcher pulls out a gun)
M: Go ahead, man. Take your pick.
(they fire guns and men are shot by Watchers )
W: Take their heads, they might be Immortals.
( a man in robe appears )
Kell: Yes,they might be.
(Kell defeated Watchers)

Kell: (to a fallen man) Don't be long.
(in deep catacomblike underground )
Kell: The Sanctuary...So it's true.
What sacrifices they have made of you, warehoused like rotting pieces of meat. Tell me, is this ...the better way?
I'm sure you've had time to reflect upon it. What you need to understand is that I don't care about the game.
I don't care about the rules. I don't even care about these pathetic souls you keep locked away as a barrier to the prize.
Which one is Connor MacLeod?
(Kell decapitates all of them except Connor)

(Duncan postures in some martial arts, but groans disturbed by some sense)

Watcher1: Well, what do we do now?
Watcher2: What we always do. We're Watchers not cops.
W1: We'll find another volunteer.

(Duncan passes by a telephone booth, bell rings, Duncan picks it up)
Woman's voice: Whatever you fear about Connor MacLeod, fear the worst.
Duncan: Who is this?
W: A friend. Don't bother looking for me, Duncan.
(She hangs up. Duncan walks away)
Man: (in a cafe, watching Duncan to a transmitter) He's on the move.

(Duncan goes up stone stairs, Methos sees him)
Methos: Duncan Macleod of the Clan MacLeod.
Duncan: Hello, Methos.
M: What brings you to my humble abode?
D: Need your help.
M: Why me?
D: You've been around for 5000 years. I want the benefit of your experience.
M: And I thought it was a social call.
D: You ever had nightmares?
M: What kind of nightmares?
D: Bloody images, powerful enough to even break your meditation.
M: We live violent lives, MacLeod. Some of that's bound to stay with us.
D: These ones came 10 years to the day that Connor MacLeod disappeared.
M: Connor had good reason for going. He told me how much Rachel meant to him.
D: There was more to it than that. I was with him that day. The day Rachel was killed.
Something wasn't right.

(Duncan remembers that day)
D: Connor, are you OK?
C: Yeah, I'm okay. Really.
D: I know you better than that, Connor. I've never seen you like this.
C: People change, Duncan. You'll learn that.

D: I need to know if he's still alive, Methos.
M: You know, a little about Buddhist monks. Some of them come to cherish life so much that to step on an insect or harm a blade of grass become a violation of their creed, so they place themselves under an extreme form of protective custody --- A Sanctuary of sorts.
Well, for an Immortal who comes to abhor the bloodshed, there's a similar solution --- A way to be removed from the game forever; the price is unimaginably high, but you are, for all practical purposes, protected from the violence within you.
And it's called the Sanctuary.
D: Connor would never do that.
M: Are you sure? It's been around since before you were born, at least until last night.
D: What happened last night?
M: It was annihilated.

(Duncan flies to NY, in a taxi, he remembers)
Connor: Hey, Duncan, what's the matter?
Duncan: The British destroyed the Clans, Connor. Scotland's finished.
C: Scotland will always be Scotland, and someday you'll go back.

Kildare, Ireland, 1712
(Connor and Duncan ride on the horses)
C: You can let on it.
D: How much?
C: Ah, come on, does everything have to be a wager with you?
D: Well, you're the one that keeps telling me our lives are nothing but a boundless game.

(a carriage with two female passengers is surrounded by some rogues)
D: Good morning, gentlemen. What seems to be problem here?
Man: They refuses to pay her toll, sir.
D: Really? How dare they.
Faith: These men are rogues. These men are liars and scoundrels, sir.
They're done nothing but prey upon us 3years running right at this very spot.
C: And by whose authority do you act?
M: By Deed of the King.
C: There is a little "X" down here. Does the King always sign his name with "X"?
D: Excuse me, sorry. Ha ha ! I think these gentlemen should be paid.
Old Lady: That deed is a fake.
D: That's a matter of opinion.
F: You, sir, are no better than they.
D: That is also a matter of opinion. (to men) Here you go.
Ladies.
M: It's gold! Why not it's gold.
another man: Ha ha!... Hey, wait a minute. They took my money!
D: Oh, it's here.
M1: They took my money.
M2: Let's go get 'em!
C: Shall we?
D: Aye.
(they fight)
C&D: Ooo!
C: Not bad.
C: Uh-hum.
D: Mmm-m.
M: All right, boys, time to go. Let's go! Come on!
(one man left lifts a heavy rock and nears to Connor from behind)
D: Ohh, Cuckoo.
C: Oh, looks heavy, huh!
D: Looks like you lost your edge, lad.
C: Really heavy.
D: Or could he be lass?
C: Could be.
(the carriage goes off, Faith drops a handkerchief out of the window)

(NY. Duncan enters in ruin of former Connor's antique shop, he searches and enters the hidden room behind a shelf. Duncan picks up an old photo of himself, remembers)
(sound of shells and bombs)
D: Corporal Duncan MacLeod, sir. I've come to pick up the wounded.
(picks up a sword)

Ravenna, Italy, 1631
(Connor and Duncan practice fencing)
C: You've improved greatly.
D: Ah, you really think so?
C: No, I'm just being gracious.
D: Humm.
C: Now, remember. You are only immortal as long as you can keep your head on your shoulders.
D: Gahh.
C: Duncan, what you give up to your adversary in defeat is everything.
D: I know. And at that point I'm very, very dead. Come on!
C: Heh, heh, heh. Not just dead, Duncan --- Empty!
D: Aye, Connor, I know. It's called the Quickening.
Our strength and knowledge, our life essence, flows into the victor, feeds him and makes him stronger, yes?
C: It's what drives the other Immortals to kill us and what forces us to be smarter, better than the rest.
D: (groans) I understand.
(Connor points his sword to Duncan's throat)
C: You do?
(Connor kicks Duncan down)
D: Ohh!
C: Good!
D: I slipped.
C: Listen, soon you and I will have to part. There is one more thing I want to give to you.
(a dwarf clown brings them two swords)
C: Va via, va via.
D: Ho,ho,ho. Oh, aye! Oh, aye. This is much more to my liking.
C: Good. Bah! Heh, heh, heh. (turning backward) Attack me!
D: But you've got your back to me.
C: It's not always about strength, Duncan. Attack me!
(Duncan attacks and Connor dodges it and parries it)
C: It's about manipulation of the mind as well as the body.
D: Aye, but now I'm in control.
C: Heh, heh, heh, are you?
( his sword is pressed on Duncan's throat)
C: Remember well, my friend. Properly executed, this move is nearly unstoppable.
D: Properly executed, we'll nae have this talk again.
(Connor leaves, wind blows)

(Duncan notices someone coming)
D: Who are you?
Faith: A friend...or a lover, or a wife.
D: Kate?
F: Attaboy. Except I'm Faith now, part of the makeover.
D: What are you doing here?
F: Remember our wedding day, Duncan?
F: I do.
(Faith sighs, Scottish music plays)
F: The way we danced. I felt like we were flying.
(Faith and Duncan dance, they kiss each other)
F: Of course, we did come down, didn't we?
(Suddenly Faith attacks Duncan)
F: Crashing.
(Duncan spits bloody saliva, motorcycle engines revving)
D: Oh, shit.
(Motorcycles rush in)
Man1: It's time to show our Immortal brother a thing or two.
M2: Somebody order a club sandwich?
D: He's funny. Nice outfit, too.
M2: Faith, I told you I look like a fuckin' orange!
F: I'm not dressing you black, Bob. Trust me.
D: Who are they?
F: Friends.
W: What, it's a team sport now?
M1: what, you didn't know? It's a whole new ball game.
D: Hey, nice bat.

M: Told you, I was gonna cut you.
M1: Let my man Jin Ke deal with him.
D: Jin Ke... who served with the Emperor Chin?
Jin: The same man.
D: Some people say you're a man of honor.
J: What do you know about honor?
D: Oh, great. Yeah!
J: Honor's not in a weapon. It's in a man.
(Connor leaves his sword, they fight unarmed)
Kell: Enough!
Boys, boys. I do apologize. When it comes to discipline, the first hundred years are the hardest.
(Man1 shoots Duncan. Duncan falls out of the window to the ground outside)

M1: Guess, I'm not much of a swords guy.
K: I thought I told you to stop.
M1: Yah, well...I stopped.
K: Tell me, Carlos. How much is your life worth?
Carlos (M1): Don't start this bullshit, man.
K: 'Cause the only way to win your freedom is to kill me.
C: You're crazy.
K: Am I? Then go ahead. Stop the madness.

(Car tires squeal outside)
K: Can you live with the fear? Can you live with the weakness?
(Men from the car start a saw; it buzzes to cut the iron bar penetrating Duncan)
K: Weakness, Carlos. I call this decap with a twist no sugar.
(Kell decapitates Carlos, men take Duncan somewhere)

(Duncan comes to, finding himself in the Sanctuary. Duncan gasps and looks at a tattoo on a man's hand)
D: Watchers?
W: Hh!
D: Watchers observe Immortals. They 're not supposed to interfere.
W: Unfortunately, our role has changed somewhat.
D: Why?
W: Because the rules have been broken. One of your kind has gone renegade. In doing so, he's gained himself a sizable advantage.
One that'll be impossible to overcome.
D: Nobody's unbeatable.
W: Oh, yes, Duncan. He is.
(with an injection)
W: Unbeatable.
D: No.
W: Ahh, sorry about that. There must always be two of your kind. As long as there are two, and you're kept from fighting, then the prize is safe.
The Sanctuary must not fail again.
D: You 're insane. Get yourself another volunteer.
W: We had a number of volunteers! Sadly, that's no longer the case. You'll be warehoused, hidden away.
D: Go to hell.
(his voice distorted)
W: Don't worry. The drug s'll kick in momentarily.

Glen Fruin, Scotland, 1625
(Duncan comes out from his first"death")
C: Get up! Get up!
You have better things to do than lie there on your ass.
D: Who are you?
C: Someone who knows more about you than you know about yourself.
D: Are you a demon?
C: heh, heh. I've been called that..and worse.
I'm Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod.
D: Connor MacLeod.
C: And like you, my friend. I had a have a hard time dying.

(in the Sanctuary, someone tekes off a mask from Duncan's face)
D: Dawson?
Da: Hey, you look like shit.
D: Thanks. How long have I...
Da: We'll talk about it later. We gotta get outa here. Come on, can you walk?
D: Yeah, uhh...
(Duncan collapses then staggers to escape out of it)
D: Go, go. What are you doing here?
Methos: Keeping tabs on you.
D: Yeah? Well, someone should keep tabs on that psychotic asshole back there.
M: Didn't you get it back in London? These guys don't play by the rules.
Da: You don't know what you're up against, Mac.
D: So people keep telling me. Stop the car.
(handing his sword to Duncan)
M: I managed to liberate that from their lost and found.
D: There's blood on it.
M: I didn't say it was easy.
D: Pull over.
M: What?
D: Pull over.
Da: MacLeod, tell me something.
M: Mac, hear him out!
Da: Mac! Will you tell me something? Now, how many Quickening have you had? How many heads have you taken?
D: I don't keep score.
Da: Well, we do.
(Opens a laptop)
Computer: MacLeod. Connor...
D: What's that?
M: The Watcher's virsion of a resume.
Com: 262 confirmed Immortal kills.
Da: It's a bit like handicapping horses, I know. But it's part of the gig, all right?
Com: MacLeod, Duncan 174 confirmed Immortal kills.
Da: Sound about right?
D: So what's your point?
Da: (sighs) Here's the gentleman you met in Connor's loft.
Com: Kell, Jacob 661 confirmed Immortal kills.
Da: Welcome to your worst nightmare. Sanctuary wasn't shit, pal.
This guy is way out of your league.
D: I want to see Connor MacLeod's body.
Da: Why?
D: Something doesn't make sense.
Da: What are you saying?
M: I think he's saying he wants to see the body.
Da: Well, it's gonna be a rough I.D. They're all missing their heads!
("SILVERCUP" sign)
(sign Connecticut)
Da: We gave 'em a Christian burial, MacLeod.
It was decent, you know. Said all the right words.
D: Can't begin to tell you how reassuring that is.
Da: With all these unexplained corpses well, we had to take it off the beaten track.
D: End of the road, Joe. Thanks.
Da: You watch your ass, Mac.
D: It's not my ass I'm worried about.
M: Did I happen to mention about all this coming to a bad end?
D: No, Methos. I don't believe you did.
M: (to Da) you were gonna stay and dig.
Da: Dig? Oh, yeah!

(metal gate to the graveyard is closed, the car runs off, Duncan opens the gate)
D: I need to know if he's still alive, Professor.
I want to se Connor MacLeod's body.
(M: One of your kind has gone renegade.)
(Connor: People change, Duncan. You'll learn that.)

(Wind blows)
Connor: (in Scottish language) Are you looking for something? Or someone?
D: (same) No. I thought I missed your funeral.
C: What are you doing here?
D: You walked out on your life, Connor. Why?
C: I had my reasons.
D: Reasons?
C: Every life I touch ends brutally and for no reason. It's a curse that's followed me for centuries (laughs)
I can't outrun it, and I can't outlive it. Rachel's death made you the last soul on this planet that means a damn to me.
I thought there was a way out.
D: The Sanctuary.
C: Yes, The Sanctuary?
D: So, how did you escape?
C: I didn't escape. I was let go. I couldn't see the slaughter, only heard it, and felt it.
(Wind blows, a shoe with three crosses on its heel is seen.)
(Kell and Faith appear)
C: Jacob Kell.
K: So, here we are. Both immortal. Missed the signs, didn't we?
but we were both so new at the game.
D: Connor.
K: What a glorious sight, just look, Connor. Look back at the endless travesties of your life, and you'll see me, always there waiting in the shadows.
When friends and lovers are wiped from your sight, I'm there. When those you cherish die abruptly and for no reason, I'm there for you.
And when your cellmate in their so-called Sanctuary are left twitching like headless chickens, guess who?
(Connor draws his sword)
D: Connor.
C: Stay out of it, Duncan.
K: Would you kill me an unarmed man again, Connor?
Oh, you didn't know, Duncan? Because you didn't tell him.
Would that finally put the agony in your soul to rest? Then, go ahead.
Send me home.
What's stopping you? Honor? Guilt? The nagging sense that maybe you, more than I, deserve to die.
Or somewhere along the way did you just lose your nerve?
D: It's holy ground, Connor.
K: Ooh.(bleeds)
Yes. Take your shot. What better chance than now? Do it!
Do it for your sweet mother. Or the sweet little war orphan Rachel Ellenstein, who if I'm not mistaken, you raised as your own daughter.
Tell me, do they even begin to equal for the murder of a man of God who raise me as his own son?
Slow, close. Feels good, doesn't it? But look at you. Even now, you're afraid. Afraid you'll lose. that's your true fear, isn't it?
The thought of giving up your essence to me, making me even stronger by it.
What's wrong? Don't you want to be inside me?

K: I want you to think back to this moment, Connor. In the endless nights ahead!
C: Aah!
K: And know, every time you close your eyes, from now to eternity, I'll be there!
Ripping apart the ones you care about most!

K: It's never over, Connor MacLeod. Living is what matters. And you will live with this.
Count on it. One far-off day, you and I will be the only two remaining. You will look back on this and know you had one chance to stop me.
You failed. But until that day, I will take my vengeance on those you love. Your living has been my prize.
(takes out Caiolin's rosary)
For old times' sake.
(Remembers) He is your son.
You, on the other hand, are on borrowed time.
(to Duncan) Call you.

Duncan: (to Connor) Is what he said true?
(Connor passes by without saying a word)
D: Is it?
C: Believe only what your heart and conscience tell you.
D: Connor, which time, anything can be forgiven. You taught me that?
C: ...Did I?
(Connor leaves)

(Duncan remembers his wedding day, clap, laugh, music plays)
D: Oh, look at Dave, Dave!
Kate: Behave yourself, Duncan.
Man: No more talking. May all your hardships fade away. Till night becomes morn.
(Duncan picks up a grain of wheat and put it on Kate's palm)
Man: Let love remain to guide your way.
Kate: Till the day we are reborn.
D: Till the day we are reborn.
Man: Kiss her, won't you?

(They kiss each other. Door opens and Connor enters )
D: Connor?
(they hug each other)
D: I thought you'd never get here.
Kate: Connor!

(at the quay)
C: You know Kate is like us, immortal.
D: Aye, I sensed something the day we met, but I wasn't sure.
C: Well, now you know.
And you know as well as I do that her immortality can only be triggered by the shock
of a violent death.
D: Yes, I do.
And without such a death, she simply grow old and die. Yes, I know, Connor.

D: Is that what you came to tell me on my wedding day?
Come on. Drink up, man.
(Connor puts down the mug)
C: No. I was wondering. Does she know?
D: Why?
C: Many years after I was married, one night, I found Heather ion front of the house. She had a knife in one hand and her hair in the other.
When I asked her why she had done such a thing to herself, she said it was the one part of her that would never age.
It would forever remain the same as when I first fell in love with her. That's how she wanted me to remember her.
D: Why are you telling me that?
C: Because I once loved a woman more than life itself.
And I watched her die. Unlike me, you have a choice.
(Connor remembers Heather's burial)
D: What would you have me tell her?
C: I'd tell her nothing. She wouldn't believe you anyway.
D: Then, I can do nothing.
C: She's in the flower of her youth. Enjoy the moment, and let it pass.
D: And if it were you in my place?
C: I was in your place! But I thank God, I never had the choice.
D: I love Kate and I will hold on to her as long as I can. And that is all I can do!
(Duncan throws his mug at Connor's feet and leaves)

(Duncan with a medal inscribed "Forever")
D: Forever, my love.
Kate: Until the day we are reborn.
D: Until the day we are reborn.
(They kiss eath other)

(NY. Faith's fashionshow is coming soon, photographs are taken)
(Wind blows)
D: You haven't lost your touch.
Faith: What do you want?
D: To talk.
F: Oh, that's a first.
D: I've tried to talk to you a thousand times.
F: Get to the point.
D: I was wrong.
F: Oh, no, no. Stealing's wrong. Lying's wrong. Killing's wrong. What you did goes well beyond wrong.
D: Fine. I deserve that, but I want a chance to make it right.
F: You want to make it right? Then give me back the ability to have children, to grow old with the man I love.
How about anything that resembles a normal life? And you took it all away from me.
D: Those things I can't give you.
F: Oh, something else you forgot to tell me. Good-bye, Duncan.
D: Kell can't give you those things either, so tell me, Kate why him?
F: Because I've never known anybody with such a capacity for hate, except me.
D: That's what's kept you going all these years? Hmm?
Fine.(smiles) Go home, Faith. Take care of what's important.
(Duncan leaves)

(Faith walks to her apartment, wind blows)
Kell: You were with him. A woman is a temple built on a sewer.
Remember what you were when I first found you. A whore.
Now, look at you. A liberated whore.
Faith: Fuck you.
K: Oh, we'll get to that, blossom, but in the interim, be grateful. I don't take you pretty little face off.
F: Hurts, doesn't it, that there is something you actually can't have?
F: Hmm, I can have anything I want.
F: Except me.
(Kell sighs)
K: I've already had you.
Faith: Not really.
Kell: Close enough.

(Faith enters Duncan's room, door opens, Duncan reaches the sword)
(Duncan remembers his wedding night, and memories overlap with present)
D: May love remain to guide our way till the day we are reborn. Forgive me.
(Duncan stabs Kate with a knife)

D: I'm sorry.
F: You had no right.

(wind blows)
Kate: Uhh!
D: Kate? No, don't be frightened. You're immortal. We both are.
(Kate screams and runs out of the room)

D: I did it for you, for us.

(Kate cries in the rain)
D: Kate?
K: Oh, no!
D: Oh my God. what have I done? Kate!

F: You wanted this. You forced it on me. I never asked for eternity.
D: I never wanted us to be apart.

D: Would you have really understood?
F: Which part? The endless numbing sameness of it all?
Or never bothering to love someone. Because whole lifetime tick by so fast, they don 't even count anymore?
D: Then why did you come?
F: To see if I could feel again anything.
(Faith leaves, Duncan catches up her at the elevator)
D: You're missing the point, Kate. The difference between Connor and I is that as long as you're still alive. there's a chance that one day I might be forgiven. It may take years, centuries even. But at least I can carry that hope inside me. That's one blessing of immortality.
There's always tomorrow. Even for us.
(the door closes)

(Bell tolling)
Faith: What are you doing, Jin?
Jin: Just thinking. Men, for the most part can mend their way only after they have made a mistake.
One day soon we will all serve very little purpose to Kell, except dead.
(Kell looks down them)

(Kell, Faith, Jin, other members at the dinner table)
K: A toast. I see tonight as a celebration of the spirit to all of you, who continue to stand by me even those who might waver at times.
You are my flock. You nourish my soul. You are all a part of a great journey, a 400-year quest for justice. And here, my friends, is the instrument of that justice. The giver and taker of creation baptized in blood. It is the living that matters after all.
(Jin reaches out to his sword secretly)
K: It sings like an angel, just listen.
(Kell's sword split into two, Jin assumes a posture of defense, Kell decapitates Jin)
(Duncan senses it)
(Kell decapitates Bob, Winston, Manny)
F: Till the day we are reborn.
(Faith gasps, her neckrace scatter)

(on the roof of a building, wind blows)
Duncan: Kell, Jacob Kell!
(Connor appears)
D: Connor?
(Duncan withdraws his sword)
Connor: (sighs) We've lived many lives, you and I.. We've seen things that most people could never understand.
But now, what do you see?
D: I see someone who would never kill an unarmed man.
(Connor smiles)
D: I also see someone who has lost hope.
C: Life brings hope and pain, but revenge never brings redemption.
D: The path and choice are ours.
(Connor walks)
D: Connor, what hell is going on?
C: I have chosen mine.
(suddenly Connor attacks Duncan seriously)
D: What are you doing?
C: Kell's too strong and he's getting stronger. Neither one of us can beat him alone.
D: Are you out of your mind?
C: If we let him win, it could mean the end.
D: Connor, no!
C: Kell is going to kill you, Duncan, just to torment me and there is nothing you can do about it. Nothing!
D: I don't believe that, Connor. Neither should you.
C: Alone, neither of us can beat him. Together we can.
D: You know the rules. Only one Immortal can challenge another.
C: And only one will.
D: This isn't the answer.
C: Listen to me. In the end, there can be only one, and that has to be you.
D: No. We can beat him together.
C: Then we are in agreement.
D: Enough, Connor. I won't fight you. I will never fight you, Connor.
(Duncan throws his sword )
C: Then you die!
(Connor slashes Duncan on the chest)
(Connor flings Duncan's sword up to him, Duncan takes it)
D: No, you're not doing this, Connor!
C: Oh, yes, we're doing this. Every day every breath we took was for this end.
Look inside and tell me I'm, wrong.
(Duncan beats Connor on his knee )
C: Do it!
D: I can't.
Remember how you first found me? Sitting in a bloody bog, scared out of my mind?
You taught me how to live, Connor. You taught me why we live. Have you forgotten all of that?
C: No.
D: Our bonds are all that hold us in this world. Don't break this one.
Please, Connor. I'm begging you.
C: It's too late.
(Duncan walks off)
(Connor murmurs)
C: This has to be done.
D: No, Connor! Not like this!
(Flashes memory of Italy)
D: Come on, stop! Connor, stop!
C: Duncan! One of us must die now, old friend.
D: No...
C: and you know it. (smiles)
D: No...
C: Good-bye, Duncan, my true brother.
D: I love you, Connor.
(Two nod each other and smile)
(Duncan decapitates Connor, Connor's memories flash, flying to Scotland, Connor and Heather, Mother, Kell, NY, Italy, wedding, Heather)
(Duncan screams with Quickening)

(Kell claps hands)
K: Duncan, well done. I ever thought you had him in you.
What does it feel like to kill a brother? Feels good, doesn't it?
D: You'll never know, will you?
Now, you'll never have Connor MacLeod's head.
K: Are you going to run? Are you going to hide?
D: Run? Brother, come on!

K: How bad do you want it, Duncan?
D: You'll pay!
(Kell slashes Duncan)
K: Duncan!
D: Okay, Kell, come on. Let's do this.

(A sighting device clicks, a Watcher aims at Duncan)
Dawson: Just watch.
(Dawson shoots him repeatedly, the watcher dies)
D: Merry Christmas.

Kell: A valiant effort, Duncan. Too bad. And this is just the beginning.
You see, when you absorbed Connor's spirit, you inherited his curse.
Revenge is so sweet. I wonder who we'll start with?
(Kell drops Faith's medal to Duncan, and he realizes her death caused by Kell)
D: Oh, Kate.

D: Oh, God. Kell! Jacob Kell! Revenge will never buy your redemption, so I'm going to do it for you.
K: Is that all you've got?
K: Duncan, I thought I'd be home for dinner an hour ago, but this is very impressive.
D: Yeah, come on. What are you waiting for?
K: I'd be delighted.
K: Impressive, isn't it?
K: Duncan!
(Duncan drops his sword)
K: You see at last your fate! Yes! Because this game is done!
(Duncan falls to one floor down)
K: Well, look on the bright side at least you went down swinging.
Connor's voice: Jacob Kell. Time for redemption. The game isn't over yet.
What's the matter? Don't you want to be inside me? In the end...
Duncan's voice: There can be only one!
Connor's voice: And you're not it.
(Duncan beats Kell )
D: Call ya!
Kell's face : No!....

(wind blows)
Scotland
D: Hope you found peace, my friend.
(tombstone engraved; Heather MacLeod beloved wife of Connor/ Connor MacLeod beloved husband of Heather)

NY.(fireworks)

♪For many's the long day, till the long boats from Antrim came to float it away.

(wind blows)
Faith: So, why are you here? You hoping you'd find me?
For whatever reason, Kell made his choice.
(Duncan nods)
D: So, um, what now?
F: Trust.
D: You can always trust me, Faith.
F: Faith is dead.
Kate: I thought we'd give Kate another chance.
(Duncan smiles and tries to hand the pendant to her)
K: Not yet. (whispers) Till the day we are reborn.
You hold on to it for me. We've got plenty of time.
(They kiss each other)

♪Oh, bonnie Portmore, I am sorry to see
Such a woeful destruction of your ornament tree
For it stood on your shore for many's the long day
Came to float it away till the long boats from Antrim
came to float it away.

Oh, bonnie Portmore, you shine when you stand
And the more I think on you the more I think long
If I had you now as I had once before
All the lords in Old England would not purchase Portmore.

All the birds in the forest they bitterly weep
Saying "Where shall we shelter, where shall we sleep?"
For the oak and the ash they are all cutting down
And the walls of bonnie Portmore and all down to the ground.

Oh, bonnie Portmore, you shine where you stand
And the more I think on you the more I think long
If I had you now as I had once before
All the lords in Old England would not purchase Portmore.
